Women in their 50s hardest hit by state pension changes


Those born in 1951 got their pension at age 61 – but those four years younger have to wait until they are 66Women in their fifties have been hit hard by the increase in the state pension age to bring it in line with men. They have less time to make up for losing out on receiving the pension at 60 than they expected.Those born in 1951 started drawing their pension at age 61, but for those born in the autumn of 1954 and who are now aged 59, the official retirement age is 66 – a six-year shortfall.
