Gallery: homes in CanterburyWhat’s going for it? I used to live in Canterbury, part of the various tours of small cathedral cities undertaken in my youth (no, my dad wasn’t a vicar). Decent place. Though never quite as nice as you think it should be. We can thank Hitler mostly, for bombing the smithereens out of it in the infamous Baedeker raids, and boss-eyed planners for finishing the job. Lovely cathedral, though. It was a little on the snoozesome side, with not much in the way of places to eat, unless you had a penchant for stuffed mushrooms bistro-style circa 1973. That was until the Goods Shed turned up, immediately shooting the city into the foodie stratosphere and almost single-handedly making the place desirable.The case against… It’s not a patch on other small cathedral cities.
