Consistently looking at your inbox out of office hours is unduly stressful, a report has found, but you can take steps if the pressure is too muchHow many timed have you looked at your emails already today? Do you feel under constant pressure to do so? According to research from the London-based Future Work Centre, which surveyed nearly 2,000 working people about the pros and cons of using email, the constant stream of updates are a “toxic form of stress”. The report found a strong relationship between using a “push” email facility and perceived email pressure, so that those who automatically receive email on their devices were more likely to report higher levels of email pressure. Checking email early in the morning or late at night was associated with higher levels of email pressure, and managers were most likely to be affected. Continue reading…
