Why can't I use Northern Irish bank notes in England?


Q I was in Belfast recently and withdrew some cash from a Northern Bank ATM. As I didn’t spend it all, I returned to England with a few notes, but every time I have tried to use them to pay for goods in shops or for taxi fares, I have met with refusal.
