Trojan General Contracting has been awarded a Dh1 billion contract by Emaar Properties to build the second phase of the Mira Oasis project.Abu Dhabi-based Trojan said the second phase of Mira Oasis – part of Emaar’s Reem Community in Dubai and close to its existing Arabian Ranches community – will see 1,393 units built on three plots containing three- and four-bedroom houses. Construction has begun this month and will be carried out in three phases. The first will complete in December 2017, the second in September 2018 and the third in December 2018.The company, which specialises in major housing developments, said that the deal offered it the opportunity to further expand its presence across the UAE. The Abu Dhabi-based developer is building a number of major housing projects in its home market, including the Hydra Village scheme and the Hydra Avenue Towers in Reem Island. It is also building 5,000 villas in Jebel Hafeet, the Ain Al Fayda project in Al Ain, 489 villas at Nad Al Sheba in Dubai and 460 villas at the Akoya by Damac project in Dubai. It is also building the 52-storey Palm Tower project for Nakheel at Palm Jumeirah.Hamad Al Ameri, the managing director of Trojan General Contracting’s parent firm Trojan Holding, said: “Being awarded this development demonstrates our ability to deliver superior developments. One of our biggest competitive advantages as a holding company is that we have an integrated team representing numerous specialised subsidiaries.”The firm will have seven of its subsidiaries working on the project, including an MEP contractor, a ready-mix concrete supplier, a precast concrete company and firms responsible for delivering facades, steel structures and interior works.Emaar Properties launched the first phase of Mira Oasis townhouses three years ago in April 2013. These sit within the masterplanned Reem community launched in 2012, which was billed as a community for people with active lifestyles. Alongside regular community facilities such as a retail plaza and schools, it is due to contain a desert botanical park, sand surfing and camel riding trails, a go karting track, dune buggies, a rock climbing wall, cricket pitch, football field, a skate park, a mini golf course and cycling and jogging trails.mfahy@thenational.aeFollow The National’s Business section on Twitter
