Labour amendment to housing bill, aimed at holding landlords to account, is defeated as minister claims it would push up rentsConservative MPs have blocked a measure that would have forced landlords in England to ensure their properties were “fit for human habitation”.Labour said the measure, an amendment to the housing bill, would give additional protection to renters.
