In many cases, either of widowhood or of loss of work on the part of the husband, the house is the only asset, and the securing of dependable lodgers the only means of livelihood.Owing to the general trade depression increasing numbers of available rooms are coming into the market daily, and intending lodger or paying guest is at a premium. It is therefore rather surprising that many women who wish to let rooms still persist in tiresome ways which discount the desirability of their abodes, and which instinct and an elementary knowledge of psychology should teach them to avoid.
