Should I buy a house at age 52 – or rent for the rest of my life?


Reader wants security for herself and her daughter – but is not sure whether it makes sense to take out a mortgage at this stageQ I am a 52-year-old single woman in a secure job earning approximately £30,000 annually which will increase yearly but not by a great deal. I do not have a pension and I have been happily renting for most of my life. My daughter is 16 and it is likely she will spend another six years in full-time education. I have savings of around £20,000 but no other assets.In the last year I have been looking at property and thinking of buying.
