Meet PropertyGuru International, the new home of Property Report and Asia Property Awards

It’s official: today, 13 January 2016, we can finally reveal that Ensign Media’s assets and operations are now part of PropertyGuru, Asia’s leading online property portal group
Terry Blackburn, Ensign Media’s CEO and co-founder, and Steve Melhuish, CEO and co-founder of PropertyGuru
The new entity, named PropertyGuru International, will continue Ensign’s core operations, including Property Report, Asia’s leading bimonthly print and online magazine for luxury real estate, architecture and design; the conference brand Property Report Congress; and of course the acclaimed Asia Property Awards series, which now enters its 11th year with nine national editions across Southeast Asia and Greater China.
“We’re excited to welcome the Ensign team and businesses to PropertyGuru. This latest acquisition strengthens the Group’s content, geographic reach and services we provide to real estate developers regionally,” said Steve Melhuish, CEO and co-founder of PropertyGuru.
Aside from strengthening PropertyGuru’s integrated property media capability, the acquisition will combine the group’s leading online property sites and its 20 property shows across the region, with Ensign’s leading print and online publication and a highly successful and prestigious property industry awards platform in Asia.
PropertyGuru to date has 14 million users, while Property Report counts 70,000 online and offline readers. Now all of them can access PropertyGuru’s 600 monthly research and news articles published in three languages across four markets, and Property Report’s 100-plus online features per month that receive more than 60,000 page views monthly.
“Searching for the right property, gathering trends, insightful news and feature stories, PropertyGuru is well-placed to help them find the home they’ve always dreamed about,” added Melhuish.
All existing staff of old Ensign – the fast-growing media company founded by Terry Blackburn and Duncan Worthington in 2003, headquartered in Singapore and with offices in Thailand – will be absorbed into the PropertyGuru Group.
On top of the name change and a wider reach, it’s business as usual for the old Ensign brands. But to real estate advertisers across Asia, the most immediate benefit of this merger is that they can now work with PropertyGuru – a single media partner – to support their regional branding initiatives across multiple platforms, reaching a wider audience, and eventually, driving more real estate transactions.
Blackburn still has big things in mind for the vibrant real estate media businesses that he co-founded 12 years ago. As part of the transition, he will stay on in his executive role and continue to drive growth for PropertyGuru International’s newly acquired, distinguished brands.
“Over the past 10 years, Property Report has established an expertise in providing its readership with the latest insights on luxury property investment in Asia, and we are very excited about this next stage,” he said. “The Asia Property Awards are already the region’s largest and most respected real estate awards and now, with PropertyGuru’s support, they will be even bigger in 2016 and the years ahead.”
Free, fair and transparent, the Asia Property Awards 2016 programme will kick off in Cambodia this February, then move on to the Philippines, Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia, with the annual South East Asia Property Awards grand finals to be held in Singapore. The China Property Awards separately cover Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau and are held annually in Hong Kong.
“Together with PropertyGuru, we will ensure that award winners in the world’s most exciting real estate destinations receive the widest possible recognition for their achievements,” Blackburn added.
