For those who have made a living in the public eye, finding a second career away from the glare of fame can at first be unnerving but, as Claire Hughes discovers, ultimately fulfillingThe problem with fame, as poet Emily Dickinson wrote more than 150 years ago, is that it is “a fickle food”. So anyone who has a career tied up in the fame game needs to have a watertight plan B to fall back on when things turn sour.A survey last year by the sector skills council, Lifelong Learning, found that one in six respondents had switched careers three times, while seven in 10 had changed at least once.
