Over the past two decades, she has built a successful career designing fabric and counts a number of household names among her clients.Even at school, Lawes knew she wanted a career in the creative industries and applied to art college to study graphic design. She was surprised to be told at her interview that she was heading in the wrong direction. “They said I should be considering going into fabric design instead,” she says.
