How cohabiting parents can avoid the legal uncertainties


Despite cohabiting couples being as likely to have children as those who marry, they are still not afforded the same rights should they seperate or dieFor the first time the proportion of parents who are cohabiting is equal to that of married couples, according to a report commissioned by Co-operative Legal Services.Based on analysis of data from the Office for National Statistics and consumer research, the report shows that over the past decade the number of cohabiting couples with children in the UK has increased by 34% and roughly equals the proportion of married couples with dependent children.
