While the foliage of this Epiphyllum (Disocactus crenatum ‘Beavertail’) isn’t particularly remarkable (it has leathery, sprawling stems and wavy, lobed edges resembling a beaver’s tail), when it blooms it’s magical. The large, showy flowers in stunning hues of red, orange, pink or yellow transform the plant into a true showstopper.Light or shade?
This cactus thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch its pad-shaped stems, so it’s best to provide it with plenty of filtered light, mimicking the dappled sunlight of its native rainforest habitat. Continue reading…
