The future of real estate’s made of virtual reality
Microsoft HoloLens
Gone are the days when real estate developers and suppliers, while showcasing their offerings, are confined to scale models and two-dimensional renderings. Today, holograms are testing the limits of verisimilitude in conceiving real estate developments.
Two devices, the Microsoft HoloLens and the Oculus Rift, have teased infinite possibilities on the ways real estate players can conflate holographics with marketing. With these devices, prospective buyers can now see and “walk through” properties — years before they are actually constructed.
Already, the gizmos have won fans across the real estate sector.

“To be able to show them something that they haven’t seen before — that, in and of itself, is a game-changer for us,” said Elizabeth O’Carroll, Jones Lang LaSalle vice president of brokerage services, as told to GeekWire.
Back in April, real estate developer Sanska announced it would be building the “world’s first holographic real estate leasing center.” Using the Microsoft HoloLens, the facility will immerse prospective purchasers in a holographic rendition of Sanska’s Seattle high-rise project, 2+U.
Digital production agency Studio216 will help Sanska in pioneering the device, which Microsoft has made available only to select developers since March. This is the same agency that used the Oculus Rift to give buyers a virtual tour of another skyscraper, San Francisco’s Park Tower, in 2015.
Also last year, real estate marketing firm Red Propeller utilised the Oculus Rift for an upcoming Seattle condominium tower called LUMA.
