At the mercy of developers who he feared might evict him, he has dug his heels in, refused to move and consulted lawyers. His obstinacy appears to have paid off.After a two-year battle, he has been granted the title deeds to a small and highly desirable corner of Hampstead Heath. For someone who has gone from being a homeless pensioner to the owner of land worth millions of pounds, he was surprisingly calm yesterday. “Someone mentioned a million and someone else said two million, but I’m not impressed with figures.
