\nIn his National Day Rally speech on Sunday (19 Aug), Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the Housing and Development Board\u2019s Home Improvement Programme (HIP) will be expanded soon to cover HDB flats built between 1987 and 1997.
\nStarted in 2007, HIP currently covers HDB flats built up to 1986.

\nSome 230,000 flats in various estates including Pasir Ris, Tampines and Jurong will benefit from the enhanced HIP.
\nPM Lee also announced plans for HIP 2, which aims to upgrade older flats that require a second round of upgrading. HIP 2 is expected to be launched in 10 years when the first flats here reach 60 to 70 years old.\u00a0
