But giving them something new for their roots to explore will mean not only a fresh burst of growth and vigour, but will also help protect them against pests and diseases. Repotting is always a messy task, so now is the perfect time to get on with it: instead of getting your carpet dirty you can do this task outside, even if that means using the pavement.If your pot is too large to move, gently scoop out the top couple of centimetres of compost and replace it. You may destroy a few roots, but the plant will quickly recover.
