As such, it is understandably an area of significant public interest. However, in the wake of the collapse of\u00a0Carillion,\u00a0it is clear that a\u00a0government procurement process\u00a0focused solely on price cannot continue if the sector is to thrive (Report,\u00a09 July). The government must instead\u00a0ensure that outsourcing companies can pay all staff a living wage that covers the cost of living.This is an opportunity to use the over \u00a3200bn the government spends on contracts with outsourcing companies to improve services,\u00a0transform the lives of millions\u00a0of low paid families, and help rebuild public trust in both government and business.
