\nLandlords and second homebuyers rush to complete deals ahead of 1 April and avoid 3% surchargeLandlords are rushing to complete property purchases before stamp duty changes come into effect in April, with solicitors working over the bank holiday weekend to make sure deals are completed in time.From Friday 1 April, anyone buying a second home for any purpose will pay a rate three percentage points higher than the standard rate, adding \u00a36,000 to the upfront cost of buying a \u00a3200,000 property.
