\nFigures from the European Union show that standards of living were 15% higher in 2013 than the EU\u2019s averageThe UK\u2019s standard of living has climbed to the joint fourth-highest within the European Union, overtaking the Netherlands and significantly ahead of France, Italy and Spain, according to official figures compiled by Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU.Luxembourg, currently mired in controversy over \u201cindustrial level\u201d tax avoidance, easily topped the table of living standards, as measured by \u201cactual individual consumption\u201d.
