It then took six months to find a landlord willing to have her as a tenant \u2013 \u201cbecause I\u2019m a single mother or, as they put it, a single-income family,\u201d she says \u2013 and when she finally saved enough for a deposit on a shared ownership property, the same thing happened with mortgage brokers. \u201cThe mortgage plus rent would be less than the rent I\u2019m paying currently \u2013 but they said I couldn\u2019t afford it, even though I\u2019ve never missed a month\u2019s rent.\u201d Continue reading…
