\nI don\u2019t want to give up my my Halifax Isa as the interest is hard to beat \u2013 I\u2019m not sure if I\u2019m breaking any rulesQ I opened a Halifax help-to-buy Isa in December 2015 with \u00a31,000 and have paid the maximum \u00a3200 into it every month since. I live in London and recently purchased a house for \u00a3500,000, making me ineligible for the government bonus which is capped at houses costing \u00a3450,000. I have not closed the Isa as I have accrued \u00a36,000 in regular savings and the initial payment, for which I\u2019m getting a 3.5% interest rate, which is currently hard to beat elsewhere. I received a letter from Halifax shortly after I moved into my property, asking whether the help-to-buy Isa is still the right product for me. My question is: am I breaking any rules by keeping the help-to-buy Isa open after I\u2019ve purchased the house? Continue reading…
