\nCity Developments Limited (CDL) announced on Tuesday (24 October) that it was named as Singapore\u2019s highest scoring property firm in CDP\u2019s latest rankings for climate change response.
\nThe home-grown developer received a score of A- and is one of only four companies in Hong Kong and the ASEAN region that obtained a \u201cLeadership\u201d ranking for its climate disclosure submitted to CDP, a UK-based non-profit environmental disclosure platform formerly called the Carbon Disclosure Project.
\nThis score is a testament to the company\u2019s effort towards climate change mitigation and adoption of best practices to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. It also shows that there is a significant progress in CDL\u2019s actions to alleviate climate-related risks in the last reporting year.
\n\u201cSustainability has become mainstream and climate change has significant impacts across many sectors and regions. Businesses should work towards low carbon operations in support of the global climate actions, and play a key role in ensuring transparency around climate-related risks and opportunities,\u201d said CDL Chief Sustainability Officer Esther An.
\n\u201cFounded on our ethos of \u2018Conserving as we Construct\u2019 since 1995, sustainability has been integrated into CDL\u2019s business and operations, and this has served as a strategic differentiator for our brand and products,\u201d she noted.
\nNotably, thousands of firms globally submit annual climate disclosures to CDP, which evaluates these against its scoring methodology.
\nLast month, CDL was named as the \u201cRegional Sector Leader\u201d for Asia\u2019s office segment in the 2017 Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB). It obtained the top spot in the ranking among 31 participants in this category.
