{"id":68154,"date":"2017-10-04T09:57:30","date_gmt":"2017-10-04T02:57:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.siamlandbank.com\/propertynews\/property-news\/govt-to-help-lorong-geylang-households-get-new-flats\/"},"modified":"2017-10-04T10:02:46","modified_gmt":"2017-10-04T03:02:46","slug":"govt-to-help-lorong-geylang-households-get-new-flats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.siamlandbank.com\/propertynews\/property-news\/govt-to-help-lorong-geylang-households-get-new-flats\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov\u2019t to help Lorong Geylang households get new flats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#013;<br \/>\nAccording to SLA, owner-occupants will not be left without options.<br \/>\nThe authorities have pledged to help the 35 households along Lorong 3 Geylang that plans to acquire a new Housing Board flat, reported Today Online.<br \/>\nHowever, some of the households may have to dispose of their other properties before they can qualify for public housing, said the Singapore Land Authority (SLA).<br \/>\nThe government announced in June that the site on Lorong 3 Geylang, on which 191 private terrace homes are built, will revert back to the state upon the expiry of its 60-year lease.<br \/>\nThey have given the occupants until December 2020 to clear the premises, remove all their belongings, pay all outstanding bills and terminate all utilities and services.<br \/>\nSLA revealed that 104 of the 191 units are in touch with them, while the remaining 87 have not made any contact.<br \/>\nOne of the 35 units occupied by their owners or family members managed to secure a two-room flat during the August Build-to-Order exercise and three others are waiting to find out if they can acquire an unsold flat from the said exercise.<br \/>\nThe other households are being encouraged by the SLA to consider applying in one of the sales exercises to be conducted before their lease expires in December 2020.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u201cSLA will continue to guide the owners through the lease expiry process.
