\nBill blunders meant more than a quarter of households paid an amount that didn\u2019t reflect their meter readingsAlmost 1.3 million energy customers were collectively overcharged \u00a3102m \u2013 the equivalent of more than \u00a379 each \u2013 last year as a result of billing errors by their energy supplier.A study by comparison site uSwitch found that more than a quarter of gas and electricity customers had been charged an amount that didn\u2019t reflect their meter readings. Other blunders included erroneous direct debits, incorrect fees and incorrect tariff or product details. Five per cent of customers said their bill had been muddled with another household\u2019s.
