\nA million people have taken out the help-to-buy Isa, but there\u2019s another option for saversThe government is hailing the success of the help-to-buy Isa, with figures released today which show that a million accounts have been opened by first-time buyers since December 2015, with \u00a31.8bn saved towards buying a home.It\u2019s not difficult to see why they have been popular \u2013 the government gives a 25% bonus on savings of up to \u00a312,000, worth \u00a33,000 for an individual or \u00a36,000 for a couple. To put it another way, a couple who save \u00a324,000 between them for a deposit are given a further \u00a36,000 by the government. The money has to be used to buy a home up to the value of \u00a3250,000 outside London, or up to \u00a3450,000 in the capital. Continue reading…
