\n\u2018I sailed on, hitting target after target, until one day I couldn\u2019t do it any more\u2019Everyone told me to be careful. \u201cWatch out: you\u2019re burning the candle at both ends.\u201d \u201cMaybe you could do with some support?\u201d And I would wave them away dismissively. Of course I could cope. They hadn\u2019t seen anything yet. So I sailed on, hitting target after target, making my company more successful than it had ever been until suddenly I\u00a0couldn\u2019t do it any more. I\u00a0couldn\u2019t get out of bed some days, and when I\u00a0did, I\u00a0couldn\u2019t stand up, walk in a\u00a0straight line or talk sense. I felt physically sick in the presence of colleagues; I\u00a0couldn\u2019t make decisions, take notes or sit in\u00a0meetings.Thank goodness I had someone to support me through it all. My partner quietly gave me space to get well, encouraged me to see a\u00a0psychotherapist and never judged. \u201cWelcome to the mainstream!\u201d said\u00a0my doctor, who told me my body was simply shutting down until I could get my head straight.
