You’re going to miss a meeting, you’ve finished reading the paper and you need a coffee \u2013 but in addition to these frustrations could you also face having your wages docked?How about if you work as a waiter and a customer leaves an unpaid bill \u2013 can your boss force you to settle it out of your pay? This scenario was addressed in a recent letter to Guardian Money, and prompted some similar tales from readers, so we thought it was worth exploring when employers are allowed to withhold some of your earnings.
