{"id":57164,"date":"2017-06-07T11:01:01","date_gmt":"2017-06-07T04:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.siamlandbank.com\/propertynews\/property-news\/singapore-among-10-cities-leading-the-way-in-urban-mobility\/"},"modified":"2017-06-07T11:12:29","modified_gmt":"2017-06-07T04:12:29","slug":"singapore-among-10-cities-leading-the-way-in-urban-mobility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.siamlandbank.com\/propertynews\/property-news\/singapore-among-10-cities-leading-the-way-in-urban-mobility\/","title":{"rendered":"Singapore among 10 cities leading the way in urban mobility"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#013;<br \/>\nView of rush hour traffic in Singapore.<br \/>\nSingapore has been named among 10 cities in Asia Pacific implementing big plans to improve urban mobility, according to a report launched by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) on Tuesday (6 June) at the ULI Asia Pacific Summit.<br \/>\nThe other cities on the list are Seoul, Shanghai, Suwon, Taipei, Tokyo, Bandung, Ho Chi Minh City, Sydney and Yangon.<br \/>\nThe report noted that Singapore\u2019s growing population which now stands at 5.6 million and limited land has led to more space-efficient modes of transportation.<br \/>\nFor instance, more incentives have been introduced for people to use public transport and embrace new forms of transportation such as personal mobility devices (PMDs).<br \/>\nFolding bikes and PMDs are now allowed on public transport, and there are numerous bike-sharing services available. As of 2016, property developers are also required to submit a detailed Walking and Cycling Pan as part of their development plans.<br \/>\nThe push for a \u201ccar-lite\u201d city means public transport usage now makes up 66 percent of all peak-hour journeys. At the same time, PMD users have increased significantly to at least 25,000, with about 25 percent using their devices daily.<br \/>\n\u201cBy welcoming new technologies while helping stakeholders and users adapt to change, Singapore is focusing on people\u2019s needs and working with the market to find mutually beneficial solutions,\u201d said the report. \u201cThis allows for greater systemic innovation, and is a prerequisite for achieving \u2018mobility as a service\u2019.\u201d<br \/>\nRead the full report here.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nRomesh Navaratnarajah, Senior Editor at PropertyGuru, wrote this story.
