\nVanessa Lawes began her career working in print studios and now designs for well-known brands such as Marks & SpencerIf you shop on the UK high street, there is a strong chance your wardrobe contains some of Vanessa Lawes\u2019s work. Over the past two decades, she has built a successful career designing fabric and counts a number of household names among her clients.Even at school, Lawes knew she wanted a career in the creative industries and applied to art college to study graphic design. She was surprised to be told at her interview that she was heading in the wrong direction. \u201cThey said I should be considering going into fabric design instead,\u201d she says. She quite liked the idea but \u201cI did wonder how they could see that from the drawings of shoes and tubes of toothpaste and things like that that you do at school\u201d. Continue reading…
