\nNumber of first-time buyers helped by parents is symptom of intergenerational inequality and \u2018broken housing market\u2019Parents are predicted to lend more than \u00a36.5bn this year to help their children get on the property ladder as first-time buyers continue to struggle to afford homes.This is a 30% increase on the \u00a35bn loaned in 2016, according to research from Legal & General and economics consultancy Cebr, and means parents will be involved in more than 25% of UK property transactions.
