Aside from single-handedly raising one or more children, these individuals have to deal with being judged for their life circumstances. On top of that, they receive less support from the state, especially when it comes to buying or renting public housing.<br \/>\nUnfortunately, unmarried mothers and their children face more prejudice. We speak to one young woman who was fortunate to get a flat on her first appeal, but the process was tedious and she faced a long wait.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, as part of our ongoing exploration of different housing estates in Singapore, we visit Choa Chu Kang in the northwest. Property agents consider it to be one of the fastest-growing towns with new developments taking shape and more families moving there. It is hard to believe that until recently, this area contained mostly farms.<br \/>\nElsewhere in this issue, we look at some alternative ways to finance a property purchase.
