As one of the latest batch of towns to be revamped under the Remaking Our Heartland (ROH) programme, Woodlands will get a facelift to make it the \u201cStar Destination of the North\u201d, revealed National Development Minister Lawrence Wong at the launch of the ROH exhibition for Woodlands on Sunday (16 April).

\nSix \u201cstar attractions\u201d will be introduced within the estate, said the Housing and Development Board (HDB).
\nFor instance, the Woodlands Regional Centre \u2013 comprising Woodlands Central and Woodlands North Coast \u2013 will be transformed into a \u201cmore vibrant hub of activity, with better connectivity and new commercial and residential developments\u201d.
\nIn fact, a landmark residential development will be developed in Woodlands Central, while another residential development offering a \u201chousing-in-the-woods\u201d experience will rise in Woodlands North Coast.
\nAside from housing developments, the Woodlands waterfront will also be transformed into a new rustic park and a nature promenade.
\nA new scenic WoodsVista Gallery will be developed to connect Woodlands Central to the Woodlands waterfront. The 1.9km community link will feature dedicated cycling and pedestrian paths, enabling residents to walk, cycle or jog from Woodlands MRT station to the waterfront.
\nMeanwhile, the Woodlands Town Garden in Marsiling will be upgraded and expanded into a new \u201cdiscovery playground\u201d. To be renamed Marsiling Park when completed, the playground will feature a boardwalk, heritage corner, children\u2019s playground and a learning lane.
\nAt the same time, a new integrated healthcare complex will be developed next to the upcoming Woodlands South MRT station on the Thomson-East Coast Line, noted the HDB.
\nA new \u201ccommunity nexus\u201d located right next to the Admiralty MRT station will also offer a range of facilities such as eldercare and childcare centres, a medical centre, dining and retail outlets, a hawker centre as well as housing for the elderly.
\nFinally, the \u201cexisting park connector that runs from the east to the west of Woodlands will be transformed into a \u2018social corridor\u2019, with lush greenery, community gardens and 3-Generation facilities along the park connector and MRT viaduct\u201d, said the HDB.
\nThe existing neighbourhoods in Woodlands will also be enhanced, while the \u201cexisting neighbourhood centres and parks within the town will be refreshed with enhanced landscaping and upgraded facilities\u201d, added the HDB.
