William James \u201cBill\u201d Jones, a fellow at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and member since 1986, has joined the judging panel of the South East Asia Property Awards 2016, the biggest and most respected real estate industry event in ASEAN, held annually in Singapore.

\nHe was part of the judging team in Singapore a few years ago. The prestigious, black-tie event in 2016 will be held at the Shangri-La Singapore on Thursday, 10 November.
\n\u201cI was on the Asia Property Awards panel a few years ago and I was highly impressed with the quality of the judging then and the professional way it was managed by the Property Report team, so I\u2019m honoured to be asked back this year,\u201d he said.
\nJones has had more than 30 years of experience in the property sector, starting his renowned career as chartered surveyor in 1986, whilst working as a valuer and property manager for Sutcliffe & Co. in the United Kingdom.
\nAfter holding several management positions, he then moved to Singapore where he handled various real estate projects in the region in a senior position in public and private entities, including Royal Dutch Shell.
\nNow a Singapore resident, Jones joined RICS, the world\u2019s leading professional body for qualifications and standards in land, property and construction, as an executive four years ago, first as a managing director for ASEAN World Region. He is currently the International Standards Director for the Asia Pacific region and is in-charge of promoting the highest technical standards and qualifications across the region, and seeking government and industry adoption.
\nAs a Judge, Jones will be fully committed to integrity and excellence, as well as fairness and transparency, for which the Asia Property Awards programme is known. \u201cI am looking in particular for green, energy efficient solutions and design innovations,\u201d he said of the forthcoming site visits of projects that will enter the Awards.
\nCommenting on the current state of some key Southeast Asian property markets, the RICS director said: \u201cThere is cautious optimism for Singapore and Indonesia markets, and Vietnam looks ahead to a brighter 2016. What is certain is that Malaysia will have a very quiet year in 2016.\u201d
\nOrganised by PropertyGuru International, the\u00a0South East Asia Property Awards 2016 will be the sixth annual edition and is expected to be bigger than ever. Top winners from eight national editions \u2013 including Cambodia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore \u2013 will compete in various Developer, Development and Design categories.
\nNomination period officially opens on 14 March and closes on 19 August. The official shortlist will be revealed in late September.
