{"id":49768,"date":"2017-03-27T10:28:46","date_gmt":"2017-03-27T03:28:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.siamlandbank.com\/propertynews\/property-news\/spore-home-prices-down-2-6-in-q4-2016\/"},"modified":"2017-03-27T10:30:54","modified_gmt":"2017-03-27T03:30:54","slug":"spore-home-prices-down-2-6-in-q4-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.siamlandbank.com\/propertynews\/property-news\/spore-home-prices-down-2-6-in-q4-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"S\u2019pore home prices down 2.6% in Q4 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.siamlandbank.com\/propertynews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/GHPI-Q4-2016_Fig2-1024x841.jpg?fit=1024%2C841\" width=\"1024\" height=\"841\">&#013;<br \/>\nThe recent easing of property cooling measures in Singapore is expected to spur interest in the market, according to Knight Frank.<br \/>\nSingapore saw house prices drop 2.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016 from the previous year, revealed a Knight Frank report.<br \/>\nThis places the city-state in the bottom three on Knight Frank\u2019s Global House Price Index rankings list along with Taiwan and Ukraine, which saw house prices fall 6.5 percent and 10.2 percent, respectively.<br \/>\nThe index showed that global housing prices rose six percent in Q4 2016, up from 4.1 percent in Q4 2015.<br \/>\nTopping the list is Iceland, with house price growth of 14.7 percent, followed by New Zealand and Malta with growth rates of 12.7 percent and 12.4 percent, respectively.<br \/>\nRounding up the top five list are Canada and Turkey.<br \/>\n\u201cThe overall picture is one of stable or rising prices, despite the global landscape of political and economic uncertainty,\u201d said Kate Everett-Allen, Partner, International Residential Research at Knight Frank.<br \/>\nShe noted that the number of housing markets that recorded price increases climbed from 43 in 2015 to 47 in 2016.<br \/>\n\u201cWith higher inflation and diverging monetary policies expected in 2017, we may see a widening gap between the strongest and weakest performing market,\u201d she added.<br \/>\nNicholas Holt, Head of Research of Knight Frank Asia Pacific, cited Singapore as the most notable market in Asia due to the surprise slight easing of certain cooling measures, which is expected to spur some additional interest in the market.<br \/>\nHowever, \u201cmany buyers in Singapore are still constrained by the Additional Buyer\u2019s Stamp Duty and lending restrictions\u201d, said Holt.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nRomesh Navaratnarajah, Senior Editor at PropertyGuru, edited this story.
