\nTourism may not be the Philippines\u2019 forte when compared to the performance of some of its ASEAN neighbours. But it is doing fine, thank you very much.\u00a0The archipelago welcomed six million foreign tourists last year, overshooting earlier projections of 5.9 million, according to the country\u2019s Department of Tourism.
\nThis dynamic, emerging market will be the subject of the Hospitality Investment Conference Philippines (HICP) on 16 and 17 February at the Raffles Fairmont Makati. The event will be host to some of the region\u2019s leading hospitality experts, designers, and other stakeholders in hotel and resort development in the Philippines.

\nThis year\u2019s venerable list of speakers includes Jeff Tisdall of AccorHotels; John Alarcon of Melia Hotels International; Jens Reichert of M\u00f6venpick Hotels & Resorts; and Alexandra Yao of Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
\nHICP will kick-start a yearlong stream of hospitality conferences by event organiser Sphere Exhibits. Following the Philippines, the hospitality conference series will continue in Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand and Indian Ocean.
