\nPropertyGuru has announced the return of Myanmar\u2019s biggest gathering of real estate achievers

\nAfter two highly successful editions, PropertyGuru, Asia\u2019s leading online property group, has launched the third annual Myanmar Property Awards 2017, which is set to take place on Friday, 30 June 2017, at the prestigious Sule Shangri-La Yangon.
\nThe black-tie event will see the country\u2019s leading and up-and-coming names in property development, architecture and design competing for the year\u2019s biggest honours in real estate, with categories covering the residential, commercial and hospitality sectors.
\nNominations for the 2017 edition are now open for all developers, consumers and the general public and can be made online at AsiaPropertyAwards.com\/nominations\/. More than 120 submissions are expected for the awards programme\u2019s third edition, a significant increase from 76 eligible entries last year.
\nDeadline for nominations is on 21 April. The official shortlist, comprising one Winner and up to four Highly Commended companies or projects in each category, will be revealed by an independent judging panel in the final week of May.
\nThe 2017 programme was formally unveiled on 14 November 2016 in a press conference held in the Konbaung-Takaung Room of Sule Shangri-La Yangon, where Asia Property Awards founder and managing director Terry Blackburn was joined on the panel by chairman of the judges Richard Emerson, managing director at Emerson Real Estate (Myanmar), and Zaw Erskine, director at BDO, the world\u2019s fifth largest auditing and accountancy firm and the official judging supervisors.

\nPrior to the press conference, an exclusive welcome presentation and launch party took place at the same venue on 13 December, followed by a cocktail reception at Sule Shangri-La\u2019s The Gallery Bar later in the evening.
\nWith its free-to-enter awards system, the Myanmar Property Awards has established its reputation as the most credible and transparent industry recognition programme showcasing the most outstanding developers and projects in Myanmar.
\nIn addition to the various categories, there will be special awards for Best Green Development, Special Recognition in CSR and Special Recognition in Sustainable Development. There will also be a new Real Estate Personality of the Year as chosen by the editors of Asia\u2019s industry-leading Property Report magazine.
\nIn 2016, Myanmar hailed the biggest winner, four-time awardee Shwe Taung Development Co Ltd, which collected its Best Developer trophy, while Keppel Land and Capital Development also received top awards. Respected veteran businessman Serge Pun, executive chairman of the SPA Group of Companies, was presented the coveted Real Estate Personality of the Year accolade.

\nMyanmar\u2019s top national winners will compete in the annual Asia Property Awards 2017 grand finale to be held at the end of next year in Singapore, opening up their businesses to new audiences around the region.

\nJudging panel chairman Emerson, who has been involved with the Myanmar Property Awards since it first handed out its first national awards in mid-2015, notes that a key trend next year will be the migration to new buildings as East Asian investors and expats enter the market.
\n\u201cMyanmar\u2019s tourism infrastructure is critical to sustain the real estate market in 2017, as well as fleshed-out economic policies,\u201d he says. \u201cAccess to mortgage financing is going to be key and proper implementation of the recently approved Condominium Law is needed.
\n\u201cRight now there are a lot of foreign investors coming in \u2013 and there clearly is enough demand in the market \u2013 but it may not be sustained if Myanmar is not a mortgage market.\u201d<\/p>\n
He adds: \u201cWe can now look forward to working with Myanmar\u2019s new government to overcome the challenges which lie ahead in moving towards a sustainable and progressive real estate market which benefits the growth of the country and its people in the long term.\u201c
