\nA newspaper round was once a teenager’s sole source of pocket money. Not any more, discovers John CraceIt’s cold, it’s dark and you’ve got to bolt your breakfast before dragging a bag full of papers round the streets. To add insult to injury, you then have to go to school. So who would be bothered with a paper round? Almost no one these days, it seems.Twenty years ago, a paper round was one of the few ways for a teenager to earn a few quid to squander on a packet of No 6 and a bottle of cider, and the kids who did it generally took it seriously.
