\nDubai is attempting to crack down on rogue estate agents who put up advertisements for properties on which they have not been instructed to promote in an attempt to get a cut of the fees. In an announcement on Sunday, the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (Rera), the regulatory arm of Dubai Land Department, said that brokers will only be allowed to market properties in Dubai for sale or lease if they have a written agreement from the property’s owner. The move has already been announced to property brokers in the summer and forms part of new advertising rules for estate agents that came into effect in October. They require anyone wishing to issue “real estate announcements” to get Rera approval.
