\nIn 2015-16, the average income of first-time buyers who purchased a shared ownership property was \u00a345,000In his 2015 and, as it turned out, final autumn statement, then chancellor George Osborne announced the government\u2019s intention [pdf] to expand shared ownership considerably, by building 135,000 shared ownership homes by 2020.
