\nI found it at the end of the journey but Virgin won\u2019t refund meWe travelled off peak from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston in September, using two advance first-class tickets which cost \u00a335.65 each with my disabled person\u2019s railcard. But when the ticket inspector checked, I couldn\u2019t find my railcard, though I had a photo of it on my mobile. She told me this wasn\u2019t acceptable and I\u2019d have to buy new tickets \u2013 for an extra \u00a3201.85 each. I asked, instead, to get off the train, but was told this wasn\u2019t possible and that I had to buy the new tickets. The inspector did mention that Virgin will sometimes reimburse the cost in such circumstances. On this basis I agreed to pay the additional fare. Continue reading…
