{"id":25851,"date":"2016-09-12T18:42:09","date_gmt":"2016-09-12T11:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.siamlandbank.com\/propertynews\/property-news\/singapore-to-assist-township-development-in-northern-india\/"},"modified":"2016-09-12T18:43:01","modified_gmt":"2016-09-12T11:43:01","slug":"singapore-to-assist-township-development-in-northern-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.siamlandbank.com\/propertynews\/property-news\/singapore-to-assist-township-development-in-northern-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Singapore to assist township development in Northern India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#013;<br \/>\nThe township aims to de-congest the historic town of Shimla<br \/>\nShimla\u2019s infastructure is struggling to keep up with a growing population. saiko3p\/Shutterstock<br \/>\nThe Singapore government signed a preliminary memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh last week, to develop an integrated township \u201cGreater Shimla.\u201d<br \/>\nSingapore will provide technical assistance to provide relief to a burgeoning population in the nearby town of Shimla, a historic mountain town, famous for being a retreat to Mahatma Gandhi, and was also the preferred summer camp during the British occupation.<br \/>\nThe MoU is between Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) and the Asian Pacific Singapore Enterprise, reports India\u2019s Economic Times.<br \/>\nMore: Asian developers are investing billions in India<br \/>\nShimla city was initially developed for 25,000 people but there has since been a population increase of ten times this amount. The town will occupy 400 bighas (160 acres) of land.<br \/>\n\u201cThe preliminary MoU has been signed today for this project which will be expanded soon after detailed discussions between the two governments.
