\nHalf of FTSE 100 firms face combined pension deficit of \u00a343bn, but paid out \u00a353bn in dividends, report findsBritain\u2019s biggest companies paid five times more in dividends than they did pension contributions last year, according to a new report that highlights the pressure on retirement schemes.FTSE 100 companies paid \u00a313.3bn towards their defined benefit pension schemes, compared with \u00a371.8bn in payments to shareholders, according to the consultancy firm LCP\u2019s annual study of pensions.
