\nDespite the fact that flogging off national assets at below market value is brainless, the social housing fire sale continues apaceFirst, a confession: in principle, I\u2019m not against right to buy. The idea as sold, to allow people to buy their homes and use the revenue raised to build more housing, seems a no-brainer. But in practice, it is very far from a no-brainer and the implementation has been particularly brainless. From the start, the discount was too high, raised higher still by the Conservatives in the last term of parliament, and right-to-buy replacement has always been painfully low. Continue reading…
