\nThe \u00a325 fee was applied to unpaid transactions such as cheques or direct debits returned due to insufficient fundsHSBC is to abolish what it said was its “most complained about” banking fee \u2013 the \u00a325 charge it makes for bouncing a direct debit or cheque.The change, which will also apply to customers of its First Direct subsidiary, comes into force on 24 November and will affect nine million account holders.
