\nThis South African beauty is that rare thing \u2013 an attention grabber that doesn\u2019t mind being neglectedWhy will I love it?Its dramatic, architectural, fleshy leaves and impressive size make it one of nature\u2019s finest living sculptures \u2013 and one of my favourite plants. The century plant (Boophone disticha) also has a fascinating structure: at the heart of this succulent lies a bulb \u2013 a reservoir of nutrients and water \u2013 that allows the plant to withstand periods of drought (AKA neglect) with ease.Light or shade?It thrives in bright, indirect light.
