\nMore than 2.5 million customers struggling to pay water and sewerage bills with single people hit hardest, says regulatorBritain\u2019s water companies are owed a record \u00a32.1bn by cash-strapped customers, with bad debts adding \u00a321 to the average annual water and sewerage bill, according to the industry regulator.The average water and sewerage bill is \u00a3385 a year, but in some parts of the UK it is higher. For example, the average South West Water bill is \u00a3532, though this is offset by a \u00a350 government subsidy for every household.
