\nInspired by the great liners of the period, this 1939 Belgian villa is an art deco masterpiece that\u2019s also a perfect time capsuleYves Plan\u00e7on, a French property developer who calls himself a \u201ccollector of houses\u201d, was searching for a house in Brussels when he came across Villa Gaverzicht for sale in the province of Waregem, east of the Belgian capital. \u201cWhen I discovered this place, I didn\u2019t hesitate for a second,\u201d he says.The house, built by a little-known Belgian architect called Gentiel Van Eeckhoutte in 1939, had been empty for three years after his widow died in her 90s. \u201cI can understand why she lived here so long. It is a very comfortable place to grow old in,\u201d Plan\u00e7on says.
