\nBy combining warm colours and reclaimed materials, a Parisian workshop is now a contemporary homeThe interior designer Doroth\u00e9e Delaye spent two years searching for what she calls \u201ca village life in Paris\u201d. She and her family \u2013 husband Fran\u00e7ois and children Faustine, 11, and Jules, nine \u2013 had outgrown their apartment in the central Marais district. \u201cI really wanted to have a garden \u2013 that was my priority,\u201d says Delaye. \u201cA place where my children could have their friends over to play. I also wanted a large entertaining space where my husband and I could gather with friends.\u201dFor Delaye, a chance for \u201cvillage life\u201d showed up a few kilometres east in the 12th arrondissement, at the back of a courtyard that once housed a mirror factory. \u201cI immediately fell in love with its volume and its factory elements,\u201d says Delaye of the cavernous, open-plan workshop. \u201cIt was such an unusual space \u2013 the perfect challenge for a designer.\u201d Continue reading…
