Source: URA<br \/>\nA proposal to position Changi Point as a gastronomical hub set within rainforest and coastal landscapes has won a competition aimed at revamping the Changi Point area.<br \/>\nNamed \u201cChangi Point: Nature &amp; Nurturing\u201d, the top entry for the open category \u201cproposed a forest trail with restored indigenous plants to create a lush landscape for nature lovers, as well as a coastal walk that showcases public art and provides seating spaces for visitors to enjoy the sunset\u201d, revealed the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) on Wednesday (3 November).<br \/>\nNotably, the competition was organised by the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and URA.<br \/>\nThe first place for the tertiary category, which was named \u201cHide and Seek\u201d, envisaged Changi Point as an idyllic resort that provides visitors with an escape from city life via discovery and relaxation.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, a proposal to transform the Old Changi Hospital into a stargazing and aviation observatory emerged as the top entry in the open category for ideas to repurpose the old hospital.<br \/>\nThe winning entry for the tertiary category, named \u201cVerdant Village @ Changi\u201d, alluded to the historical role of the old hospital as a place for healing and retreat, reimagining it as a verdant village with lifestyle uses to promote well-being.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are pleased to receive a good response from members of the public, professionals, and students for the Charmingly Changi Ideas Competition, and are impressed by the creativity and high standards of ideas proposed,\u201d said SLA Chief Executive Colin Low.<br \/>\nURA CEO Lim Eng Hwee said the ideas received reflect the aspirations of the community for Changi Point.<br \/>\nHe added that the ideas are helpful in drawing up plans which strengthen the area\u2019s unique character.<br \/>\n\u201cWe look forward to continue working with the community and Singaporeans to collectively shape vibrant and meaningful spaces, and a distinctive Singapore.\u201d<br \/>\nThe respective agencies will review the proposals and identify suitable ideas and concepts that will be implemented in the future plans for Changi Point and Old Changi Hospital.<br \/>\nLooking for a property in Singapore?
